지리산으로 산행을 떠났던 60대 남성이 계곡에서 숨진 채 발견됐다.10일 경남 산청경찰서에 따르면 경남 김해에 거주하는 60대 남성은 6일 오전 7시경 지리산을 다녀오겠다며 집을 나섰다. 하지만 아내는 남편이 하루가 지나도 귀가하지 않자 이튿날인 7일 경찰에 신고했다. 신고를 접수한 경찰은 소방, 국립공원공단 직원 등과 함께 수색 작업을 벌인 끝에 8일 오후 2시 11분경 삼장면 일원 계곡에서 숨져 있는 남성을 발견했다. 경찰은 남성이 산행 중 발을 헛디뎌 계곡으로 떨어진 것으로 추정하고 정확한 사고 경위를 조사 중이다.
