비닐하우스 아침부터 36도… “피할 곳 없어”, 80세 이상 온열질환자 26% 논밭에서 발생

주말 ‘이중 열돔’ 균열… 극한 폭염 다소 누그러져도 여전히 고온

주말 한반도 상공을 덮고 있던 이중 고기압에 균열이 생기면서 극한 폭염이 한 단계 누그러질 것으로 전망된다. 다만 폭염 자체가 해소되는 것은 아니라 다음 주에도 35도 안팎의 무더위와 열대야가 이어질 것으로 보인다. 기상청에 따르면 8일 낮 최고기온은 27∼36도, 9일은 26∼35도로 예보됐다. 서울 등 수도권을 비롯한 서쪽 지역을 중심으로 여전히 폭염이 이어지겠지만 주말에는 상하층 고기압의 연결이 약해지고 고기압 중심도 북서쪽으로 이동할 전망이다. 이후 구름이 유입되고 햇볕이 약해져 다음 주는 폭염 강도가 다소 낮아질 것으로 예상된다. 동해안과 제주에는 주말 동안 비가 내릴 것으로 전망된다. 강원 동해안·산지에는 8일 오전 시간당 30∼50mm의 강한 비가 내릴 가능성이 있으며 8, 9일 많은 곳 최대 150mm 이상의 많은 비가 예상된다. 수도권과 내륙 곳곳에는 소나기도 내리겠다. 다음 주에도 무더위는 계속된다. 중부 지방은 대체로 맑고 남부 지방과 제주도는 구름 많은 날

With their assault on science, Trumpists aren’t just harming America – they’re harming themselves | Jan-Werner Müller

The administration is subjugating science to political imperatives, a major blow to US soft power and technological progress The Trump administration is waging an unprecedented war on institutions devoted to research and higher learning. While plenty of countries have harmed universities by imposing neoliberal logics on academia – creating artificial markets in the name of spurring professors to be more productive – the Trumpist subjugation of all science to political imperatives has no equivalent in a democracy; if anything, it is reminiscent of Stalin’s Soviet Union. The assault now also targets foreign students and any kind of international collaboration – a major blow to US soft power. Why are Trumpists engaging in what can only be described as an act of wanton self-injury? Project 2025’s Russell Vought, the director of the office of management and budget, initiated the rule change that would make any federal grant subject to review by political appointees – including funds for science that so far have been allocated through judgment by first-rate fellow scientists.
