성인이 됨과 동시에 보호가 종료된 자립준비청년 3700명 이상이 전담기관과 연락이 되지 않는 상태인 것으로 나타났다.10일 국회 보건복지위원회 소속 백선희 조국혁신당 의원이 보건복지부로부터 제출받은 자료에 따르면 자립준비청년 중 연락 두절인 상태는 2023년 1891명, 2024년 1291명, 2025년 520명 등 총 3702명이다.연락 두절이란 연락처 변경이나 거주지 이전으로 주거지 파악이 곤란한 경우를 포함해 자립 수준 평가가 불가한 상태다. 본인이 스스로 연락을 거부하거나 타 시설에 입소했거나 의사소통 곤란 등으로 연락이 곤란하거나 자립 수준 평가를 실시하지 않고 모니터링만 하는 ‘기타’ 분류와는 다르다. 학대나 유기 등 다양한 이유로 보호대상이 된 아동은 원칙적으론 18세, 연장을 할 경우 25세까지 보호를 받고 그 이후엔 자립을 하게 된다. 자립준비청년이라고 불리는 이들은 보호종료 후 1000만~2000만원의 자립정착금, 월 50만원의 자립수당을 받고 5년간 안정적

CEOs may like to get up at the crack of dawn and go for a run, but I prefer optimising my life with lie-ins, trashy films, swearing and coffee This evening I’m going to tuck my five-year-old into bed and read her a chapter from one of her princess books, followed by a summary of research recently presented at the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology. Once upon a time, I’ll tell her, there was a scientist called Dr Nawon Lee who authored a study that found having a weekend lie-in may be very good for you and can protect against high blood pressure. Our accomplished protagonist Dr Lee said: “People should not feel lazy or guilty for sleeping a little longer on the weekend.” And the moral of this story, dear child, is that you should try not to wake your mothers up at 6am every day. Unfortunately, I’m not sure that all the peer-reviewed science in the world will convince my early riser to have a weekend lie-in. Still, as a big fan of sleep and someone who has never once felt guilty for hitting the snooze button, I have to say I feel vindicated by this new study. CEOs can get up at 4am and run 10 miles before eating five foraged mushrooms if they want to, but I’m going to protect my heart health by sleeping in, any opportunity I can get, thank you very much. [전문의 칼럼]“노력해도 안 돼”… 청년의 무력감부터 깨야 한다

최근 진료실에서 만난 20대 후반 청년은 자동차 정비공으로 성실하게 일하던 기술자였다. 그는 언젠가부터 ‘인생의 목표를 달성할 수 없을 것 같다’는 무력감에 빠져들었다. 더 이상 구직을 할 의욕은커녕 집 밖으로 나올 에너지도 남지 않았다. 요즘 많은 젊은이가 이 청년처럼 ‘노력해도 원하는 결과를 얻을 수 없다’는 무력감을 호소하고 있다. 청년기에는 성공을 위해 노력하고, 장년기에는 꿈을 이뤄 가는 것이 보편적인 삶의 과정이다. 그러나 갈수록 악화되는 취업난과 주거 비용 부담 등 고된 현실은 이들에게 삶의 의지를 꺾어 버렸다. 이러한 무력감, 박탈감, 우울감은 청년층만의 문제는 아니다. 특정 연령층에 국한되지 않고, ‘노력은 배신하지 않는다’고 믿어 온 많은 국민이 마주한 문제다. 이런 문제를 단번에 해결하는 건 불가능하다. 청년들이 원하는 대기업 등 양질의 일자리 증가와 주택 공급은 짧은 시간 안에 달성할 수 없다. 그렇다고 청년과 국민이 느끼는 우울감과 무력감을 그대로 둬선
