426개 실시간 채널, VOD 8000여편 불법 유통 조직 적발…피해액 350억원 추정

문화체육관광부와 태국 왕립경찰 중앙수사국은 지난 2월 국제 공동작전을 벌여 태국·말레이시아 기반 불법 IPTV 운영조직을 검거한 성과를 바탕으로 ‘저작권 보호 협력에 관한 업무협약’(MOU)을 8일 서울 종로구 제이더블유 메리어트 동대문 스퀘어 호텔에서 체결했다.검거된 조직은 2015년부터 태국, 말레이시아, 싱가포르, 인도네시아 등 동남아 지역을 중심으로 K-콘텐츠를 포함한 방송·영상 콘텐츠 저작권을 침해한 것으로 조사됐다. 국내 방송 채널 8개를 포함한 실시간 채널 426개와 주문형 비디오(VOD) 8000여편을 불법 유통했으며, K-콘텐츠 피해액은 업계 추정 약 350억원이다.수사기관은 태국 치앙마이와 말레이시아 세랑고르에서 피의자 거주지와 사무실을 동시에 압수수색해 태국인 1명과 말레이시아인 3명의 신병을 확보했다.현지 수사기관의 증거물 분석과 피의자 조사 뒤 4월 말레이시아인 2명, 5월 태국인 1명의 범죄 혐의가 입증됐다. 이들 3명은 현지 법원에서 재판을 받게 됐다
